We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Eli Wallgate, a proud First Nations student and former Albury High School student, who is shining bright in his career journey with Essential Energy! 🎉
Eli’s story is one of determination and success. After leaving school at the start of his HSC year, Eli seized the opportunity to join a traineeship with Essential Energy, kickstarting a promising future in the energy sector. With the support of On Country Pathways, he smoothly transitioned into the workforce, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and trade skills.
Eli’s journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of vocational education and traineeships. He is living proof that hard work, dedication, and seizing the right opportunities can lead to a fulfilling career—showing our students that university is not the only pathway to success. Apprenticeships and traineeships, like the one Eli embarked on, are opening doors to incredible career possibilities. 👏
Reflecting on his experience, Eli said, “This journey has been so easy and relaxed because of the support from Steph, Mat, and all my workmates. It’s incredible the amount of people I can go to. I am very grateful for everyone involved.”
Eli’s success is also a testament to the importance of workplace mentors and culturally safe environments. Mat Rogers, Essential Energy’s Operations Manager, expressed his excitement in welcoming Eli to the team, saying, “We’re thrilled with the support that Steph and On-Country Pathways are providing to ensure Eli has a fun, safe, and successful apprenticeship.”
As one of the first business partners of On Country Pathways, Essential Energy is playing a vital role in creating education and employment opportunities for First Nations people, aiming to improve socioeconomic outcomes through trade and professional career pathways.
