Industrial Arts

Head Teacher: Mr Cameron Miller

The Industrial Arts Faculty at Albury High School aims to deliver industry standard practical experiences for all students in Years 7-12. Students undertake a wide range of subjects, projects, work experiences and placements, with a focus on innovation, problem-solving, collaboration and technical skill.

Albury High School students have access to an excellent array of timber, metal and design workshops and classrooms, which are well-equipped with tools, equipment and machinery that is reflective of industry practice. Additionally, the Industrial Arts staff possess qualifications and experience in the Construction, Manufacturing and Hospitality sectors.

Computer Aided Design, Graphic Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing are core areas of focus for the Industrial Arts department. This includes the comprehensive use of computer programs such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Autodesk Fusion 360 and fixed equipment such as laser cutters and 3D printers.

Courses offered:

  • Stage 4 – Technology Mandatory (Year 7,8) with a focus on material technologies, digital technologies and engineered systems.
  • Stage 5 – Industrial Technology (Timber), Industrial Technology (Metal), Industrial Technology (Engineering), Design and Technology.
  • Stage 6 – Design and Technology, Engineering Studies, Industrial Technology Metal and Engineering Technologies and VET Construction (CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways).

Each of these courses are designed and implemented to prepare students to undertake further study or employment in the areas of manufacturing, engineering, industrial design, architecture, construction or any other career path where problem-solving, practical and employability skills are required.

The Industrial Arts Faculty also offers students the unique opportunity to develop a major project in either Design and Technology or Industrial Technology in Year 12. Both projects demand creativity, high levels of skill and attention to detail. They are an excellent way to build a body of work for future tertiary applications or employment opportunities.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all staff and students at Albury High School, students must wear correct footwear in accordance with the school uniform policy. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is readily available in all learning spaces where required.
