Head Teacher (Rel): Mr Tim Bridgeman
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) is a core subject from Kindergarten to Year 10. In Years 7 to 10, the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requires students to complete 300 hours of PDHPE annually. This curriculum helps students address health, safety, and well-being issues, while also engaging in physical activities that enhance their movement skills and confidence.
At Albury High School, students in Years 7 to 10 have PDHPE three times a week: two periods of practical activities in the hall and one theory period in a classroom. For practical lessons, students should wear their sports uniform and change back into formal clothing afterward, except during dance units when formal wear is acceptable. Theory lessons take place in designated classrooms, and students are expected to bring their exercise books.
The Stage 5 elective, Physical Activity and Sports Studies, involves six periods per week, with up to four dedicated to practical lessons. Students will meet in the hall, change into sports clothing, and then proceed to their practical venues. Onsite facilities include the hall, gym, tennis courts, futsal court, basketball courts, and oval, while offsite options include the Albury netball courts, Greenfield Park football oval, and Albury Swim Centre.
In Years 11 and 12, students can choose from:
- Community and Family Studies (CAFS)
- Exploring Early Childhood
- Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
- Sport, Lifestyle, and Recreation Studies (SLR)
CAFS and Exploring Early Childhood are taught by the Home Economics Faculty. In 2025, PDHPE in year 11 will evolve into Health and Movement Science, a theory subject with an external HSC examination that contributes to the ATAR. SLR, a non-ATAR subject, is predominantly practical, featuring four practical lessons each week. For more details, visit the senior syllabuses here: NSW Education Standards Authority Syllabuses.
