Albury High School is proud to announce a remarkable achievement in representative sport as four of its talented students have been awarded the prestigious NSWCHS Sporting Blue. Charlie Murphy and Josh Gould, both exceptional Water Polo players, alongside Australian Rules athletes Charlie Gibson and Chase French, will be honoured at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Monday, November 25th.
This milestone is particularly significant as it marks one of the most successful years in the school’s history, adding to the legacy of excellence in sports that Albury High has cultivated over the past 66 years. With only 20 NSWCHS Blues awarded to Albury High students in that time, the recognition of four students in a single year speaks volumes about the dedication and talent within the Albury High community.
The achievements of Charlie Murphy (Albury Tigers) and Josh Gould (Albury Sharks) are notable. Both players have represented NSW Water Polo multiple times and recently toured New Zealand with Water Polo Australia. They have consistently showcased their skills at the NSWCHS championships against formidable teams from Queensland Schools, NSWCIS, and NSWCCC, culminating in their selection for the championship team this year.
In Australian Rules, both Charlie Gibson and Chase French have excelled at the Lavington Football Club, with impressive records in representative competitions. Their participation in the Riverina SSA, NSWCHS, and NSW All Schools teams led to their selection in the All Australian - 15 Years Australian Football team after competing at the School Sport Australia Games on the Gold Coast.
This achievement highlights not only the hard work of the students but also the supportive environment fostered by Albury High School and the local sporting community. The commitment of parents in prioritising their children’s involvement in school sports has been instrumental in this success.
As we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to recognizing Charlie, Josh, Charlie, and Chase at the upcoming induction ceremony at the SCG, where they will join an illustrious list of past recipients, including Olympians and professional athletes.
