Dux of the School
The title of Dux of the School is awarded annually to the student who achieves the highest academic results in their final year of secondary education. This prestigious honour recognises outstanding academic excellence and consistent dedication to learning. At Albury High School, the Dux is determined based on the student's performance in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) — the credential awarded to students who successfully complete Year 12 in New South Wales. Prior to the introduction of the HSC in 1967, the equivalent recognition was based on results from the Leaving Certificate, which served as the final secondary qualification. Regardless of the era, the Dux represents the pinnacle of academic achievement at Albury High and reflects the school’s proud tradition of excellence in education. This award continues to inspire current students to strive for their personal best in academic pursuits.
