Creative and Performing Arts
Head Teacher: Mrs Mardi Sergi (relieving)
The Creative Arts Faculty at Albury High aims to provide students with engaging and enriching opportunities. Through the Creative and Performing Arts, students are able to discover a variety of art forms. Students explore, experiment and refine new and existing skills through a study of Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts. Studying the creative arts encourages students to think critically and creatively. They are provided with opportunities to compose, listen, make and perform.
Students must study 100 hours of both music and visual arts during Years 7 to 10. They also have an opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills in other art forms through elective subjects including Dance, Drama, Photographic and Digital Media and Ceramics (Visual Design). Students can then select from a range of courses in Years 11 to 12.
In Year 7 & 8, the following subjects are mandatory. Following this, students have a choice of electives.
- Year 7 Visual Arts mandatory. Students undertake a practical study of visual arts for four periods a week encompassing skills in drawing, painting, ceramics and digital media
- Year 8 Music mandatory. Students undertake a practical study of music for four periods a week encompassing composing, listening and performing.
