Additional learning support
At our school, we are committed to ensuring every student is ready and confident to learn. We provide tailored support for students with disabilities and additional learning needs, enabling them to fully participate in all aspects of school life. Importantly, your child does not need a formal diagnosis to receive support within a mainstream classroom, and support can begin at any stage throughout their schooling.
Support Tailored to Your Child’s Needs
We understand that some students require extra assistance to build confidence and achieve their best. We collaborate closely with families and external services to develop personalised support plans and adjustments that suit each child’s unique strengths and needs.
Our additional learning support may include:
- Collaborative teamwork between teachers, support staff, families, external services and most importantly, the students themselves
- Specialist assistance for students learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D).
- Tailored programs to challenge and nurture high potential and gifted students.
- Small group tutoring targeting literacy and numeracy skills.
- Regular reviews to monitor progress and update support plans as needed.
Classroom Adjustments May Involve:
- Creating accessible learning environments.
- Using assistive technologies.
- Providing customised instructional resources.
- Offering extra guidance, simplified content, or alternate lesson focuses.
Assessment Adjustments May Include:
- Allowing additional time.
- Using simpler language in instructions.
- Scheduling breaks during tasks.
- Providing alternative ways to complete assignments (e.g., oral presentations instead of written work).
Identifying When a Student Needs Support
We recognise students who may need extra help by:
- Observing changes in learning progress or behaviour.
- Reviewing assessment outcomes and overall learning growth.
- Responding to concerns or requests from parents and carers as well as classroom teachers
All planned adjustments are developed in partnership with families and are regularly reviewed to ensure they remain effective and responsive to your child’s needs. If you feel your child may benefit from additional support, please get in touch with us.
